The Egyptian Water Bank
Pioneering sustainable water resource management and financing to secure Egypt's water future and establish it as a global leader in the water sector.
The Strategic Challenge & Our Mandate
The primary challenge facing water management in Egypt is bridging the gap between supply and demand on a long-term, sustainable basis. This must be done at the lowest financial, economic, and environmental cost, without hindering socio-economic development.
To address this, the **Egyptian Water Bank (EWB)** was established and registered. Its core mandate is to plan and manage water resources and finance water projects to achieve sustainable development. Sponsored and supported by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the EWB aims to spearhead the maximized use of water resources in Egypt, secure financing for critical projects, and ultimately position Egypt as the world's water capital.

Priority Focus: Sohag Governorate
The villages of Sohag are a primary focus for EWB's interventions due to severe poverty and a critical lack of basic services. With poverty rates soaring between 71-88%, our work here is essential.
- Key villages include Sheikh Makram, Banawit, Mazata Sharq, and Al-Baskiya.
- Communities like Banawit (pop. 18,000+) face extreme hardship with an 86.8% poverty rate.
- Our projects directly address the lack of reliable access to clean drinking water and modern sanitation.
- We aim to restore dignity and provide the foundational elements for a healthy, productive life.
